Do NOT install WhatsApp Gold
24 May 2016

Have you heard of WhatsApp Gold? Have you been invited to use it, like you're a special person who gets the goodies before everyone else does?

Well, it's a scam, and if you have an invite, or get invited to use the service, run a mile.

There's talk of this WhatsApp Gold being used by celebrities and athletes, and apparently offers you the chance to delete messages after you've sent them, and allows you to send a hundred photos at the same time, and all that.

However, WhatsApp Gold does not exist.

Links have been sent to people, offering them an exclusive chance to download the app to their smartphone. If you do, all you end up with is malware, which will wreck your phone and let horrible hackers get the chance to have all your personal info.

The message people have been receiving is: "Hey Finally Secret Whatsapp golden version has been leaked, This version is used only by big celebrities. Now we can use it too."

If you get one of these invites, delete it immediately. If you click it, you'll be redirected to a bogus anti-malware program, which is run by scam-artists.

Make sure your phone is up-to-date and protected from viruses and the like. Here's our guide to the best free smartphone security apps.
