Dixons and Carphone Warehouse sitting in a tree...
The two companies have merged to the tune of £3.8 billion and will henceforth be known as Dixons Carphone.
Poor the Warehouse :(
Dixons operate more than 500 Currys and PC World stores in the UK and Ireland, while Carphone Warehouse operates more than 2000 stores across Europe.
The new union have said their existing brands 'may' be integrated into the new company, but that nervy 'we haven't sat down to discuss that bit' is par for the course with any fledgling relationship really.
Former chief executive of Dixons, (but now chief executive of Dixons Carphone) Sebastian James said:
"The ability to take what we have built in electrical retailing and add the profound expertise of Carphone Warehouse in connectivity would make us a leading force in retailing for a connected world".
"Together, we can create a seamless experience for our customers that will enable technology to deliver what it promises – that is, to make their lives better."
The happy couple are so giddy, that there's not even a new load of branding yet. Aw.
There's no details of any nuptial-based piss up as yet - so don't head to the hat shop just yet - but you, dear reader, will be THE FIRST TO KNOW.
