Did this guy's Macbook really get nicked?

Over the past day or so, the internets have been awash with chatter about a site calling itself This Guy Has My Macbook, a tumblr blog where an unnamed individual has been charting the progress of his stolen Macbook, with the help of an app called Hidden.

We have seen pictures of the thief using the Macbook, and even though the images are as clear as day, the police were seemingly unable to do anything about the crime. Until a few hours ago, coincidentally as the site went viral across the internets.

The latest update says... “Update: (May 31, 8:37 PM PST) ARRESTED! An Oakland police officer just called me to let me know that they arrested the guy in my photos! BOOYA! The police used my evidence (email which pointed to a cab service) that he was a driver and tricked him into picking them up. Nice work OPD!”

So all’s well that ends well? Or just a cunning marketing device for the Hidden app that has done its job spectacularly well? Hmmm... what do you lot reckon?

I thought I was the only one that used their laptop while driving. I think the owner of the laptop should actually buy a bed before getting a Macbook. Obviously got no sense.

Doesn't this show how bad the app or the Hidden team is. Stolen on March 21, and apparently gives you the location of the thief. Yet police can do nothing until now, almost 10 weeks later. From their website ... The Hidden team will also help you work with the police when recovering your stolen computer. So long as you wait ten weeks.

So the police didn't have the resources to arrest a criminal when they were told where he was, what he had done and even had clear images of the crime. And I thought this country was bad !

All those pics are remarkably well composed, with the miscreant looking directly at the webcam lens, and show a very comprehensive cross-section of what you'd expect someone to be doing with a laptop. Plus the chances of a tealeaf holding onto a laptop he's just nicked are fairly remote, as a lot of thieves would aim to get shot of high value items like MacBooks as swiftly as possible.

It's not a jawbreaker, it is a cyst.

Media assassination engage! All the furniture in this guy's room is pointing that he is not in the use. Furniture like this would be expensive to import anyway. Furthermore the guy's name does not immediately stand out as a muslim name. This he clearly is as proven by the numerous Islamic text displayed on walls behind him! Im going to call BS on the whole story. Marketing scam.... In the morning.

What do you think?
