Carphone Warephone launch new mobile for a fiver

14 November 2008

Since there are plenty of grumpy old sods reading this who think mobile phones should be for making phonecalls, here's some news that'll get you gossiping on Usenet later.

Carphone Warehouse are selling a credit crunching-crunching handset for just £4.95 (when you buy £10 of airtime). The Samsung B130 mobile phone is described as a "hassle-free, no-nonsense handset" - in other words, it's devoid of the gadgets that annoy those who reject all technological advances beyond 1995. Be warned though, it has a colour screen, so you might want to squint when you use it, or ask customer services if they can change it for one less advanced.

Now, if they could only fit it with a rotary dial, I'm sure you'd all be very happy.
