Can't stand smug iPhone owners? There's an ad for that.

10 May 2009

The iPhone may be changing the communications market, but it's simultaneously creating a new demographic of 25-44 year-old cockends, those grinning idiots who can't get through dinner without checking their Twitter replies, or painting a jaunty crown on a photo of a cat.

If you feel like punching their nose through their soft doughy brain, rest assured you're not alone:

"No its, true most iphone users are gay . . crap phone no bluetooth and lads who have them dont have girlfriends" Awwww, doesn't mummy give you enough pocket money to pay for one?
  • Liam
Is somebody jealous??? Cant afford one??? Cant pass the credit check to get one??? How Sad!!!
  • Hmmm
    Iphone = lame. HTC tfw.
  • DX
LOL! Its funny how some people can be so jealous. The iPhone works better than any other phone on the market, fact. It's currently missing some features yep but these are being addressed in the next new model, out in the next few months. And this is coming from a non iPhone user!!

I love my iPhone but that advert is good. I love the payphone finder :) Yes my iPhone is great, but so are Google Phones etc... I can accept that

Have to admit I reckon most Apple products are crap. iPhones, iPods, iMacs whatever. Have used all of them before and there is usually a better alternative out there. Apple's great talent is generating demand for their products through funky advertising, targetting the coffee house trendy types. They create a buzz for the brand and it becomes a fashion item rather than a peice of hardware. As for the iPhone itself, don't like it. In my opinion Nokias perform far better.
  • A G.
iPhones are beautiful gadgets, but as a phone Apple ruined it with their non media sharing and lack of Flash (both on the camera and most importantly for the web). Looks awesome but I think my Nokia 5800 betters it beside the looks and obviously the pinch feature it lacks. Used to hate on Nokia til the 5800... Wait til the Sony Idou comes out though, itll shit on all of em along with the Palm.

My iphone sucks, in fact i've gained 2 inches.
  • Rob
Jealousy ??? its like being jealous of someone beacause they have herpes , as Saatchi and Saatchi have just done a great ad campaign for it . Its a phone at the end of the day .
  • Jack
iPhone is a great device, no doubt about it, plus it looks nice. But it also lacks a good camera, flash, flash, bluetooth and its exclusive to one network so its anti-competitive to make sure you pay through the ass for one. The device itself costs wayyyyyyyyy to much. Plus, many of their users are indded cock-ends, one of my friends is a Mac fanboy and he doesnt stop having sly pocket wanks while raving about the iPhone and how cool it is, and about all his apps and the way he re-arranges them and shit. But its also funny as its had to go off for repair....gutted. Great video, I'm tired of people thinking they're elitest motherfuckers when they just love to get sucked in my advertising.

Ha ha ha . Very funny when people says Iphone users don't have girl friend. I even got wife. I have been using all the Apple products including iPhone. I think people who don't like iPhone are simply can't afford one or stuck in the contract with other phones. :)
  • Doodies
Brand loyalty is a strange thing, and Apple products seem to be sold more on fashion than functionality. To give the iPhone its dues it does look nice and the operating system is generally very smooth, but it is far from being the best phone on the market and is hideously overpriced for its spec. I'm equally bemused by the idiots shouting "APPLE SUX!!!" as I am by the trendwhores smugly sneering "The only reason you don't have one is because you can't afford one". I wish people weren't so worried by how they think other people will react to their choice of products and just got that which suited their needs best.

Apple make very good, high quality products but they are by no means always the best, especially given the price tag Apple put on them.
  • anonymous c.
I wonder why you guys slate the iPhone for price? It's no more expensive then the blackberry storm and that sucks compared to the iphone. So the iPhone sucks at a few basic phone functions that you barely need or use anyway? It has a heap of stuff you never dreamed of doing on a phone before it lanuched and the other handsets are playing catchup (Disclaimer: I do not have an iPhone, but I have used one!!)
  • Dude
I like everyone esle here is a consumer. We may be influenced by advertising but thats only to a certain point. If it was indeed such a poor product, the market would decide and it would have a drop in numbers sold. It hasn't. It's not that it's a perfect product, it's just better than it's piss poor rivals. If a better product comes along, the market will shift. I don't care about the logo on the back, but what it can do for me. The iPhone has its flaws, but for anyone to deny that it isn't one of the best phones currently available either hasn't tried it, or doesn't like Apple for the sake of it. In which case, your missing out.

iPhone haters are usually Apple haters who are usually Nokia+Windows users who can't admit they have been second rate for a while. IF the iphone is sooo bad then why did ALL the companies suddenly try to raise their game by introducing iphone killers (lol)? For years and years Nokia et al gave you the same handset rehashed over and over again, this one has changeable covers, this one has a funny shape, this one has a shiny metal case - inside they all the same running the same 10 year old software! The real point is that the iphone showed up the mobile companies for what they were - and you just can't admit you have been ripped off for years... boohoo.
  • aLL c.
It's interesting that if you express the view of disliking iPhones, iPhone owners will try and make out it's because you simply can't afford one or that you're somehow jealous. What is it with this unwillingness to believe ANYTHING could be better than their precious fashion-phone? It just adds to the stereotypical view that you're all cock-ends. Don't fuel the fire you muppets!
  • Amanda H.
Don't wind up the iphone gang. They will shake you, until red "x"s appear on your eyes. Waaaaaahhhh.
  • Dave
"Nokias perform far better." Oh dear. I hate macs, I hate itunes for being slow and crash prone, and I'd love to hate the iPhone too. I even tried to - for about a year. Then I used one. The phone bit might be a bit crap, but the fact is - the iPhone sells, and its frickin awesome to use. If you cna't afford one, deal with it. Don't post utter shite like some of the comments here.
  • The B.
The iPhone's not perfect, I have one and some of the functionality is a travesty, however, the style and bits that do work outway that. Next stop will be a googlephone once they produce one that doesn't have the style and looks of a Lada.
  • The B.
    That should be outweigh.

The real point is that the iphone showed up the mobile companies for what they were - and you just can’t admit you have been ripped off for years… boohoo." Well said Barry. I think a lot of this stems from the fact that most people think very little of Apple computer's, even though the majority of people have never used one! I've been a Mac user now for 8 or 9 years, previously used Windows for years and continue to do so at work. Mac OS X is without a doubt the better operating system and this has been carried through to the iPhone. I agree with Barry's comments about the mobile phone market being stagnant for a period, then as soon as Apple announces it's iPhone every man and his dog rushes to get the latest touchscreen phone onto the market. I've had an iPhone since 11th July when the 3G model was released and can honestly say it's the best phone I've had, better than any other phone on the market. Sure there are a few things lacking on the device, but Apple are working on this and should come in the shape of a new model/software update. The good thing about the iPhone is the way that it syncs with my Mac through iTunes and MobileMe, so it's like I have my Mac with me wherever I go. I'm sure I'll get fanboy comments now, etc. but whatever. I'm still using the best product on the market and you're not! Oh and btw I am gay, but I don't see what that has to do with iPhone owners. People shouldn't start making stereotypes when they've no idea what they're talking about!
  • Jill
TJ - the iphone may be the best phone for you but not for everyone. The only thing I can think of that the iPhone does better is applications.
  • him
Not a fan of apple myself, do not see the need in having all these gadgets, waste of cash. Is the iphone the mini of phones? Do I need one to be all hip,hop in this age?
  • Sean
Well, all the iPhone (L)users who have posted on here have done nothing but prove the very point that everyone is making. The same tired arguement over and over again: "lolcats don't be jealous because u r not afford teh iPhone!' It's nothing to do with 'affording' it. It's to do with, why the hell would we want to? I have to admit - I love my Ipod. Sure, its a little price compared to the competition, but I don't really care. It does exactly what I want it to do, and it does it well. But the iPhone? Why the hell would I want to shell out for it, when I want cut and paste? And I want Bluetooth? And I want a decent camera? And the ability to record video? Amongst loads of other BASIC functionality that the thing just does not have. The iPhone doesn't do anything that hasn't been done before. (Ericsson did it with the P800 did the majority of it, as did HTC, many years back...) But it lacks so much thats been around and taken for granted for years. Just, as everyone has said so many times, a flashy bit of nice looking creative advertising and PR work, and all the 'haha u r la jealous of mah iPhone cus u r not aford it!' twats jump on it. So, to summarise, why the fuck would I want to spend a massively over inflated price on a piece of crap just because it makes people go 'ooh' when flicking through a menu, when I can spend far less, and get something that does exactly the same but a hell of a lot more?
  • Sean
Quote: I’ve had an iPhone since 11th July when the 3G model was released and can honestly say it’s the best phone I’ve had, better than any other phone on the market. Sure there are a few things lacking on the device, but Apple are working on this and should come in the shape of a new model/software update. Rofl - exactly. The original iPhone was released without 3G when pretty much every other phone had 3G as standard. Why? So they could release a new model the year after that included 3G and charge everybody to upgrade. Problem is, every other high end phone for the last couple of years has been shipping with 3.5G leaving it once again left behind. Apple purposefully hold back on some of the very basic functionality, just so they have an excuse to continue to release new revisions year after year, so the 'trendy' cockfaces will keep stupidly shelling out for technology that is years out of date - instead of being innovative and attempting to come up with something new. And no, before anybody says it, I hate Nokia as well. They're just as guilty as Apple are, of being years behind the times.
  • Evrae
I love that ad. I do find the Iphone nice to look at, never bothered getting 1 because I like a handset that lets you put apps on for lots of other phones and basically do more. I might get 1 when they are equal to a Samsung Omnia. But then the Omnia HD should already beat the Iphone.
  • Slappy
3 words: Style over Substance. They pretty much sum up Apple for the last few years. iPod is not the best mp3 player but it's the most popular cos 'ohh its shiny and thin' and just about works. Unfortunatly the general public are happy with 'pretty but medicore' - hence the populatity of celebrity.

gine me any sony ericsson anyday. iphones are a load of crap. and yes ive had one and what a waste of money thet was
  • Adam2050
I hate apple on everything they make becauses its usually a complete rip off and many of its competitors make better end products, but the Iphone is still a far better phone then any other on the market. "The iPhone may be changing the communications market, but it’s simultaneously creating a new demographic of 25-44 year-old cockends" Jealousy or what? When is HotUkDeals going to drop this "cockend" of a website? Seriously the articles are brief and full of hate talk. Flipping grow up.
  • Mike H.
Personally, I like the iPhone, same as BMW's and Audi's, It makes it easier to pick out the wankers.
  • Craig
The publishing of this article is proof that its jealousy! I as an iPhone user don't blast Nokia or HTC users for god sake! I get on with using my iPhone and thats that - I'm 23 so don't fit the age demographic (Sorry!) and as Adam2050 said - drop the hate spew and grow up? Its like anything on the consumer market - you either like it or you don't. If you don't, leave alone - use what ever you want.
  • Elf
So there are no ENORMOUS cockends with BlackBerries? Or Nokias? Or Sony Ericcsons? My friends all have Twitter and Facebook addiction but they're using SE or Nokia phones and yeah is p1sses me off that they have to check every few minutes but it's not an iPhone specific trait. What a pointless blog entry. And no, I don't own an iPhone but I'll be getting one this year.
  • MinstrelMan
keep posting Iphone stories BW, it's making your site look rather popular
  • Apples
LOL Reading the replies on here and I'm thinking "The iPhone owners are cockends!?!". What a bunch of childish whiners!
  • blair
HAHA I've got a girlfriend who I've been with for three years, I play in two bands who regularly play internationally and I always have my iPhone with me. I have loads of apps, mostly games, because I get bored traveling and an iPhone makes it easy to entertain yourself with games. I love music so I always have headphones with me too, as my iPhone is also an iPod. I also liek to have my iPhone with me, just as much as I liked my last regular, mobile phone, as it means I can always call my friends and family whenever I want, wherever I am. My iPhone always has a signal when i need it because it's an (i)Phone. I didn't send this from my iPhone; but I could have. My iPhone has really easy to use and quick internet facilities so I can post stuff wherever I am. I don't care about bluetooth because I'm not a 25-44 year-old cockend, grinning idiot who can't make it through dinner without sending novelty ringtones and amateur porn videos to everyone in the room. With my iPhone I can choose if I want that rubbish myself. I tend not to listen to sad wankers with conspiracy theories about how big companies like apple work. If you feel like punching their nose through their soft doughy brain, rest assured you’re not alone; everyone knows their just jealous too.
  • Hammeh
I totally agree. iPhone what a piece of shit, almost as bad as a blackberry.
  • phil m.
the reason i dont own an iPhone is because of its owners are total cockends! bit like BMW owners.
  • dave
(I'm same Dave as was supporting iphone users earlier in this comments list) However. To blair (3 posts up): You are the reason people think iphone owners are cockends. Shut the fuck up about your pathetic imaginary life you sad twat. Cheers. Dave.
  • cockends
look at all the iphone owners on the defensive, did you look at the title its not aimed for you you fucking penis' iphone is fucking shite, they could of released a decent fone but decided to con yo all by releasinf several different upgrades over the period of a couple of years and still not up to standard so that 300/400 quid fone turns into a 1000+ fone by the time it has the required features they dont wanna out in .....coz they know cockends like YOU will keep upgrading TWATS
  • kungfu
wow i-phone bashing, welcome to 2007

Can someone explain why it is that users of Apple products are incapable of taking the slightest criticism of any Apple product? And while we're on the subject, what make Apple products so damn perfect? If they really were so perfect, they would stop developing all their products because they were the sole supplier in the market. Just to rattle their cage a bit, The Gadget Show tested the practical uses of an iPhone against the N95 last year and the N95 walked all over the iPhone in every department except looks.
  • The B.
Kate, it's rather odd then that they tested the Storm, iPhone, HTC and G1 against each other and the iPhone came second, ranking the N95 against the iPhone is a bit redundant as one is a smartphone and the other isn't. Don't get me wrong, I had an N95 before my iPhone and it wasn't a bad phone, just a very slow and sloppy OS, saying that the cashback on trade in covered the cost of the iPhone,
  • Mark
Poor people love to hate Apple. They're infruiated that iPhone users seem to love their phones - nobody who's critizing them actually has one. Get a decent job and you'll be able to afford the best. Until then, shut up and be grateful for your trailer.
  • cockends
what has wealth got to do with owning an iphone? every chav in the country has 1 absolute fucking tripe
  • Blair
To Dave, I feel rather than make a point you've proven mine. My list of reasons are all practical capabilities of an iPhone, makeing it good choice of phone. Your reply has only shown that people who shout about how crap iPhones are the real childish cry baby cockends. The only bit of my comments which could suggest I'm image conscious is that I play in a band? This was posted in reply to someone saying iPhone is forsados with no girlfriends. Although imaube should have mentioned I play in a skinhead oi band - not exactly a fashion trend settter.
  • Kate
Hi Real Bob. The point is not which is the "best" phone. After all, everyone I've asked has their own opinion, which is based on different requirements, for their "perfect" phone. No, this is a more general point that Apple owners seem incapable of hearing any criticism of any Apple product without yelling and screaming and throwing out insults to anybody suggesting this or that Apple product is not completely perfect. There are a lot of phones in Japan and the USA we have not even heard of. The Japanese don't buy many iPhones because they prefer their own 3-D phones, which we haven't even seen in the UK. Americans are currently going crazy for Samsung projector phones, which are also unavailable here.
  • Mike H.
Kate, I prefer my holographic phone, you can see and speak to people as if they are in the same room!
  • MacOS d.
Why do iphone fanboys think that anyone who dislikes the iphone (and ipod) are apple haters/windoze users/nokia owners. I'm an OSX using, windows hating person who owns whichever phone works best for me (and as such changes as my needs change - any brand). The iphone IS a poor phone imo - sure it can do a few things many others couldn't, but it also lacks some incredibly basic features (that people have already mentioned so I won't go through them again). The ipod too is a poor mp3 player (although 5generation ones can be massively improved by installing rockbox on it) with below average SQ.
  • The B.
Kate, I can't speak for the Japanese but the American are about 3 years behind us in phone technology which is why the original iPhone never had 3G connectivity as they don't have it in the US, just us Europeans apparently (although if you read some of the slightly demeneed comments above it's because Apple are a malign force bent on universal domination).
  • The B.
    Americans. Arse.

  • I i.
Too bad, iSheeps. You're the ones who were ripped off by steve blowjob. iDiots!
  • carlottecarlotte
the add is funny. but why all the fuss about being pro IPhone? you like it, buy it. You don't like it, don't buy it ... that's easy ;-)
  • Your G.
I'm not saying the iPhone is stupid, I'm saying people who buy them are. Aside from them not having a girlfriend, (if they did, they wouldn't have £500 to spend on this piece of shit HTC wannabe'), they miss out features, and the people sucking Steve Job's cock can't admit to that, then when they add the feature on the new model, then theh go out and buy the newer model. At least I'm getting more pussy than any iPhone user, even if that pussy is attached to an iPhone user's Granny.
  • Gabriel Z.
haha, clean diet and do exercise,it sounds good.

I can see both sides of the argument. As a company...Apple suck...you have to pay for any upgrades, a good example of the Iphone3G to the Iphone 3GS...the main update being the ability to record films...on a Nokia or any other phone, this would be a firmware update....but Apple expect you to buy a whole new phone.... I personally lik the look of the Iphone4 and would be tempted to get one...the prblem is the cost and the contract lengh.....24months, 2 whole years with a phone that is soon be be upgraded by 2011...is it really worth it?! And why have we all of a suddent become obsessed with touch screen?! I miss buttons sometimes... Anyway...I will most likely get one purely for the App Store as the Nokia OVI store is less that great these days. Have a fun argument.

The iphone is ahead in technology and usability, i have no doubts (I have used one). I just can't stand the look of it. It's functions and concept have unfortunately locked it's own design and it's future, that being a thin rectangular block. It's competitors have copied the design which is why all new phones look the same. Most of the techy-wannabes (young and old) are falling over themselves to get one, in fear of being left out of the trend. I envy them,. well.., not really.

I am not jealous of people who use iPhone. I can afford to buy the phone, but it doesn't have enough bang for my buck. What's infuriating with apple users is that they think they are better than everyone else when they have iPhone. It's pathetic because Apple basically packaged a dog poo, put an apple logo on it, and sold it for $400 each. It's magical indeed.
