Apps pay you to get fit

Do you need an incentive to do some exercise? Wish someone would pay you money to get off your rear and work up some kind of sweat?

Well, with this being 2016, there's an actually an app for that.

There's an app that's available on Android and iOS called Bounts, which gives you coupons and the like, with "big brands" (their words), so you can have a treat while tracking what exercise you've been doing.

Another app is launching in the UK, called Sweatcoin, which again, offers vouchers and deals, in relation to how much time you've spent in motion. However, that's Apple-only at the moment, so that's no use to the majority of smartphone users.

Either way, both apps track your movements (which may not appeal to a number of people), and you are rewarded bit-by-bit, the more exercise you do.

It seems like the rewards are curated too, so you don't get free doughnuts or money off pizza for all your work, as that would negate the very reason you've downloaded the app in the first place.

These apps could be great if you already do a lot of walking in your job - traffic wardens should sign-up, and leave them logged-in all day, and just claim their freebies at the end of the month.

Regarding Sweatcoin, Oleg Formenko who is one of the co-founders, says: "This whole business is pegged to making movement valuable. Eventually, sweatcoin is going to have a rate of exchange tied to the British pound."

Presumably, both of these companies will make their money on all that valuable data you generate, by telling them where you are, during which bits of the day.
