Android learns to read, Kindle app coming soon

Amazon have announced that an Android version of their Kindle mobile app is to launch shortly, meaning you'll be able to buy electronic versions of books without the need for a Kindle, or having to sully your palm with an iPhone or iPad:

The blurb refers to "non-US customers" being able to purchase books, so presumably it'll be available for Android users in the UK. The tech specs state the app will be supported by most Android-powered mobiles, and will require Android OS 1.6 or greater, plus an SD card. And the ability to read, presumbably.

Sounds good. That will add value to the cheap Android tablets coming from Asia like the EKEN M001.
