Waitrose is the best, Which! is nice

20 June 2014

waitrose_shopping-bag_20-jpg Roll out the bunting and the astronomically priced cloudy ginger beer - Waitrose has been crowned Best Supermarket by Which! Meanwhile, John Lewis nabbed Best Retailer in a double whammy from the nation’s favourite company. It was the second year that John Lewis had won the prestigious consumer award.

Which! said they gave the award to Waitrose for 'performing consistently highly for its in-store and online offerings’.

Other awards were given to Bosch, for best appliances, Lush, for best customer service, and – in new financial categories that were introduced this year – First Direct took the Best Banking Brand award.

Meanwhile, the hardworking sprites in the John Lewis partnership will be dragging bottles of champagne off the shelves and working their way through piles of Waitrose own brand sausage rolls in celebration.

Richard Lloyd must be sunning himself on Phillip Green’s yacht, so in his place, Which! group chief executive Peter Vicary-Smith said:

‘The Which! awards celebrate the very best of business in the UK, each year recognising those companies and individuals that consistently deliver for consumers.Good businesses are crucial to building a stronger and more sustainable economy, and Which! will continue to highlight the firms getting it right.'
