List of Morrisons closures released
As well as selling off their M Local stores, Morrisons also announced that they'd be getting rid of 11 stores.
Is your local store going? Well, the supermarket has released their list of branches that are going to get the chop.
Morrisons will be making 900 members of staff redundant, as part of cost saving measures. The retailer is continually losing money, so they want to do something about it and fast.
The company have now confirmed that the stores which are set to close, and they are: Burnham-on-Sea, Castletown in Sunderland, Clevedon, Little Hulton, Northallerton, Oldbury, Salford, Shildon, Streatham, Tyldesley and West Bromwich.
Pre-tax profits for the half-year to August 2nd dropped by 47%m while like-for-like sales for that same period dropped by 2.7%, when compared with the same time last year.
Chief executive David Potts said: "With great regret we are proposing to close 11 supermarkets. This is a difficult decision but one which we cannot see any way through to make those stores viable."
