Lakeland nab crown as Britain's top shop

27 May 2010

lakelandlogo It’s always nice to kick off new day with the results of some survey or poll or other to argue the blind toss about and that’s what we’re going to do today children.

A survey of 14,000 shoppers by the finger-poppin’ dudes and dudettes at Which! Magazine has found that ‘creative kitchenware’ retailer Lakeland is Britain’s best shop.

What started off as an animal feed-packing business mutated into a chain of 47 kitchenware stores and they have topped the poll thanks to their outstanding customer service, offering unhappy customers no-quibble refunds on anything, irrespective of how long they have had it or where they might have been shoving it.

Richer Sounds came second in the Which! poll, gaining lots of praise for its “lovely, helpful knowledgeable staff” and “excellent aftercare” followed by Apple’s stores, early 1990’s shoegazing band Lush and John Lewis. Currys Digital and WH Smith finished rock bottom in the survey

But which of the big five gets your vote? There’s only one way to find out – poll!!

Eh? Poll closed? How do you expect us to vote? (Is there a fox store we can vote for?)

There's a queue outside the poll, there'll be an inquiry.

Sorry. I'll go and get a grown-up to mend the poll.

I thought it was funnier when you could not vote. Remember any survey by which is rather selective in the people surveyed, since subscribers are mainly very middle class types that enjoy paying £9.75 a month for reports on products they probably already have and are often out-of-date since by the time they are tested and the report is written, a newer model is already out.

    Couldn't find a grown-up but it's mended now.

Ryanair planes can count as shops you know.. Shame to see we missed out on the "official" list..

Apple isn't a shop. It is a brand name. It should be Apple Store.

I hate which. Bullshit spouting wank socks.

Where is this, 'None of the Above' store? I had a quick Google, but it didn't come up with any shops?Sounds pretty 'witty' though, I can't find the 'any' key on my keyboard either...

I like Lakeland, I also have small feet so I can stand closer to the sink.

I noticed that bringing up the rear was also PC World and Currys (normal currys not the digital/old Dixons). Good old DGSi, you can always rely on them to come last. Oh, and isn't it "Which?", not "Which!"?

I bought the BEST thing from Lakeland a few years ago. A pair of wooden toast tongs, so you can get your bastard toast out of the bastard toaster without burning your bastard fingers. You can take your iPad and stick it up your jacksie, wooden toast tongs are the best invention in the whole world, and I'll not hear anything else from anyone.

Why do my posts always get deleted??? All I did was point out that which only polled 0.02% of the population.

I really liked this post. I had not thought of it that way before. I am enlightened because I took a moment to read!
