Deathwatch - EasyLiving Furniture in administration

4 April 2011

As stores add up the cost of poor trading during a severe winter combined with nationwide frugality, we're seeing a new rash of retail stores struggling to stay afloat. Here's another, the second we've had on Deathwatch today - EasyLiving Furniture have now gone belly up.

Bitterwallet - EasyLiving Furniture

A statement on their website says the company went into administration last Wednesday; the administrators claim that they need several days to assess the situation, after which time they'll be contacting customers who paid deposits. The statement also says that a dedicated website will be set up in due course, although what function it will provide isn't clear.

EasyLiving Furniture had 18 stores and concessions across the South of England, with a head office in Swindon.

When you have a chain of stores, limited to only 18 and in a somewhat restrictive part of the country, chances are high you'd never last too long. Slow news day is slow...

18 stores is more than Alworths.
