Classic albums remade Ikea-style

10 August 2010

The internet – a playground for creative types to fanny about and show off just for the hell of it. We love it we do.

Here’s one that’s tickled us hugely. Some enterprising sort (bltphoto) has taken a load of well-known album covers and remade them as mock pages from the Ikea catalogue. Clever clever stuff.

The rules are…

  • No posed band shots
  • No holding instruments (it's their day off remember)
  • No surrealism
  • Best if the LP's any good
  • You can break the rules if you feel like it.

Here’s a couple of our favourites and you can see the whole gallery here.

Font's all wrong! Ikea use Futura.

Alexis: hope you're sitting down. They've moved to Verdana: http://www.guardian.co.uk/artanddesign/2009/sep/02/ikea-verdana-font

Good God, you're right. My eyes! Two golden rules of type: 1. Verdana should never appear anywhere in print; and 2. Comic Sans should never appear anywhere on earth.

"No holding instruments" - nice to see the very first one you show has fucked up straight away.

Mr Greggles, refer to the "You can break the rules if you feel like it." rule.
