The mini Wii is coming - possibly, although definitely in Canada for now...
The Nintendo Wii U is coming, but that doesn’t mean that the original Wii is ready for the knackers yard yet – that’s because Nintendo are bringing out a mini version of it, costing less than the bigger, bulkier original.
But the bad news is that it seems to be a Canada-only release, at least before Christmas anyway. Over there, it’ll cost C$99.99, which translates as about £62. Unlike the ‘proper’ Wii, it’ll be a gaming-only machine, with no online capabilities.
Given that you can get a pre-owned Wii for about £40 these days, and that the market will be flooded with used Wii consoles in a few weeks once the new Wii-U has hit the streets, it’s hard to see what the point of a £60 mini Wii actually is?
