Pre-owned games arrive at over 60 Tesco stores

23 August 2010

Bitterwallet - tesco logoAn interesting development for gamers at the supermarket - Tesco has taken a trial trade-in service nationwide to 60 stores.

Print adverts started appearing last week, featuring a range of titles that can be traded in at the stores, including 2010 FIFA World Cup on PS3 for £12, Red Dead Redemption on the Xbox 360 for £19 and £17 for Mario Kart Wii.

The only downside is that you won't get hard cash in return - all monies have to be spent in-store at Tesco as well. Unsurprisingly, Tesco is also selling pre-owned games too, meaning another player in an already fiercely competitive market, although it seems unlikely Tesco will provide anywhere near the range of titles that GAME, CeX and others might offer.

You can check whether your local Tesco is offering trade-in on games using the options in their store locator.

Can you see what games they will accept?

looks like they are setting this up to fail as all the stores that are anywhere even remotly close to me are in small towns, rather than the superstores on the edge of citys.

My local Asda have been doing this for a few months already. So it's not actually that 'interesting a development for gamers at the supermarket'.
