Look at the size of that thing - DSi XL in UK from March 5th

14 January 2010

If you're a fan of the Nintendo DSi but want something that's heading towards netbook-sized without the functionality of a netbook, the DSi XL is for you. We covered the launch of this behemoth back in October; it has a 4.2″ screen – some 93 per cent larger than the DS Lite - and according to MCV will come pre-loaded with two "games:" – Dr Kawashima’s Little Bit of Brain Training: Arts Edition and Dictionary: 6 in 1. Great.

If you want one, you haven't long to wait: Nintendo have just confirmed a UK launch date for the DSi XL (branded the DSi LL in Japan) of March 5th, although there's no word of pricing yet. Best of all, for those of you wanting an oversized games console that won't fit in your pocket, it'll be available to two desperately unpleasant colours - wine red and brown. Stay classy, Nintendo.

    Aimed at pensioners then presumably.

@Klunk, Yeah I think so. They will still sell a shedloads no doubt. How about a new DS model though, better graphics, faster processor, decent browser, apps etc

^^i think what you're looking for is an iPod touch - cheaper games too!

Nintendo are clearly playing to they're strengths. They sell just as many of these to pensioners and people who only want it for the odd game/brain training (mums, old people etc) as they do to actual games. And most never leave the house with them. This will be ideal. My Mum is always saying how her DS Lite is hard to see without her glasses and gives her a headache sometimes.

The stylus looks like a used tampon.
