BBC iPlayer Big Screen arrives in time for iPad launch

The BBC has rolled out a new version of its iPlayer this afternoon, just in time for the official UK launch of the iPad tomorrow. Previously the iPlayer refused to load on the iPad, but now users are treated to the iPlayer Big Screen, which looks like this:

Bitterwallet - iPlayer Big Screen

I only watch Fox (and sometimes Badger)
  • Raging c.
So you're saying that everyone else has to change to suit the iPad? Don't they just have apps to change it for the iPad? Have I completely got the wrong end of the stick? Anyone fancy some gay sex?
  • phil
"Raging cock" - the bigscreen for iplayer isnt anything new its what they use for the ps3 so its not really changing much to suit the ipad its just a compact version of iplayer.
  • The B.
Hopefully it works better than the PS3 version which is shite to navigate, even the wii version is easier.
  • Maude
This can't be the iPad version of the site. It looks like shite. I am thinking that Bitterwallet have misunderstood and that the BBC will stick to what they have actually said - which is the iPad version will be released tomorrow.
  • davia
big deal a bigger video bit real shitting cutting egde
  • Mikey
    Excuse me for not caring.......
  • Peacecap J.
What the hell has this to do with being a UK consumer? About time you renamed this shitty i-blog i-wankalloverapple.
  • shatty p.

How can it be any good, when iPlayer is flash based and Apple won't allow flash !!
  • dunfyboy
Won't the edge of the screen be obscured by yours thumbs since you have to hold it all the time?
  • Kevin
No as theres a bezel edge for you to hold it, the screen doesn't go all the way to the edge
  • Xad
Apple don't allow Flash on their devices. I think Iplayer Bigscreen is literally for the big screen, as in your TV connected to a HTPC of some sorts, there's so many user friendly ones coming out including Googles service, BBC are probably just readying themselves for how a lot of TV shows are going to be delivered.
  • Tom
Funny there still does not seem to be anything about bumming foxes on the new iplayer.
  • Gunn
I still do not get the iPad, but plenty folks queuing hours to get one.
  • Whaaaa
£700 for a 7inch lcd, mobile OS and a 3g chip, are you completely nuts? Sooner Android matches this at a third of the price the better.
  • Andrew R.
Silly BBC - some developer created almost exactly the same interface for Boxee around a year ago. Shame they've more or less ripped it exactly.
