Amazon will let you buy your books again, but digitally

4 September 2013

Amazon are going to try and help out Kindle-using punters that have forked out £££s or $$$s for actual hard copy books, by introducing an ebook scheme allowing them to download digital copies of books that they already own – for a price.

It’s called Kindle MatchBook and there’ll be a chance for Amazon customers for download physical book purchases that they made, going right back to 1995 – with each book expected to cost an additional sum between £1 and £3.

Amazon Kindle Matchbook

It’s essentially a book version of Amazon’s AutoRip service, and although it’s due to launch in October in the US, there’s no official UK date for MatchBook just yet.

What there is though, is a new Kindle – an upgraded version of the Paperwhite, which will be available from 9th October for £109.
