HotUKDeals Of The Day - Wednesday 5th August

5 August 2009

When we think of the typical Bitterwallet reader, we like to imagine someone who does lots of DIY, collects giant life-sized alien monsters and enjoys cartoons with loads of swearing in them.

Does that sound like you? It does? Wowzers! Then today’s bargains, courtesy of HotUKDeals, are right up your twisted street.

First off comes a massive clearance sale from Screwfix. Those purveyors of nuts, bolts, hammers and drills are flogging off some of their end-of-catalogue stuff and we reckon there’s something there for everyone.

Except the Automatic Dirty Water Pump (400W 240V), which is now only £19.80, down from £39.67. Why you’d want to pump out dirty water is beyond our comprehension.

Next comes a rare treat – a chance to own a life-sized model of the iconic Alien Xenomorph as created by Swiss surrealist H. R. Giger for Ridley Scott’s 1979 film The Bad News Bears Alien.

It stands at seven feet eight inches in height and is derived from the original moulds used to create the original Alien costume! RRP is £6,500 but you can pre-order one for just £5489.99. So what are you waiting for?

Finally, a deal that’s at the other end of the cost scale but is arguably just as entertaining – series one of Modern Toss, the magnificent, sweary comedy series which describes itself as “the stink of excellence in a world gone tits up.”

As andywedge says… “it’s flies and sneezing and illegal alphabets and astronauts and drive by abusing ducks and a bloke who turns into a giant red monster when he sees Alan Titchmarsh and swearing. Lots and lots of swearing...” And it’s available on DVD for the titchy price of only £2.95 - bliss.
