The vending machine that makes crisps? Yes please!

24 November 2011

Imagine this. You go over to Argentina and crisp makers Lay's are so willing to show everyone what goes into their crisps, that they've made a vending machine that makes them for you fresh, before your very eyes. There, they show off that the only thing that goes into their product is potatoes, vegetable oil and a pinch of salt.

You activate the machine by popping a potato in, then, you watch it get washed, peeled, cut, cooked, salted and bagged up, waiting for you to pluck them out and scoff them. Watch.

Lay's machine - Debut (English txt) from Castro Innovation on Vimeo.

Alas, this video is still in the realms of fantasy and only imitates the who process, but someone really ought to make one of these in real life. OR WE'LL HAVE TO CUT SOMEONE.

The shot of the girl getting the bag of crisps at around 2:22 suggests that the front of the machine is just a big screen. Which, in turn, suggests it's just a vending machine with packets of crisps inside rather than being some clever washer/slicer/fryer/packer/sealer combo. What a swizz.

Aw Ben, you've shattered the dream for the rest of us - all the thick people actually thought this was real. What are you going to tell us next, some nonsense about Santa not being real I bet....?
  • Jax
Ben you are a genius. I thought it was so clearly real, I had booked flights to Argentina. You sir have now ruined my Christmas. Good day.
  • Fake B.
Aww Ben, you've gone and ruined the who process.
  • JonB
Littlewoods have already killed Santa in their Christmas ad.
  • Bastard
Ben, it's really a green screen to show crisp making for the video. The real maching had fox bumming.

All it would take is for someone to stick a rock in it instead of a potato *yes, I know it's not real.

    CUNTS!!!!! OH sorry, wrong article!
  • Tom
Oh, so only potatoes, vegetable oil and salt. So that's diabetes from the massively high GI of potatoes, ethical issues from the palm oil and atherosclerosis from the salt. Oh, and have you seen the "What goes into crisps goes into you" video? Yummy!
  • Dick
    I wouldn't go for a rock, I'd try a turd.
  • Harry
It is real, I am the guy who carries potatoes in my wallet and so was filmed using that machine. Don't let the cgi appearance of the vending machine fool you. It is real, this is why Carlos Tevez wants to leave and go back to Argentina.

Carlos Tevez wants to go back to argentina because someone told him there is a place to get a free wash and a shave, then a hot bath with bath salts

What do you think?
