The TSB is BACK!
Everyone rejoice – the TSB is BACK! Yes, it’s thrown off the shackles of Lloyds and is now existing on its own again, vowing to ‘fuel local economies’. Which is nice.
Sadly, the all-new TSB website was knackered when we tried to look at it earlier (edit: it's working again), but we’re sure it’ll all be working again shortly. Be patient, this is big time news!
Five million customers will have their accounts transferred from Lloyds to TSB, although we’re not sure how they’ve been chosen. Sort codes and bank accounts will remain the same and bank cards will all work as per usual.
631 branches, including all of the Cheltenham and Gloucester branches and all Lloyds branches in Scotland, have been switched to the standalone TSB, and it will be sold as a public company with a share issue next year.
TSB chief executive Paul Pester said, ‘We bring the new TSB Bank back to over 600 communities across the UK to fuel their local economies - and nothing else. We have today launched a bank which has been born fully formed.’
God, there’s tears in our eyes here. What about you?
