Microsoft ARE still accepting Bitcoin

15 March 2016

bitcoins You may have heard that Microsoft were dropping support for Bitcoin payments. Well, that's not true and the company themselves have apologised for 'inaccurate information'.

A support page on the Microsoft website said that they were no longer going to accept the cryptocurrency at their Microsoft Store and the Windows Store. However, in a statement a spokesperson said: "We continue to support Bitcoin for adding money to your Microsoft Account which can be used for purchasing content in the Windows and Xbox stores. We apologise for inaccurate information that was inadvertently posted to a Microsoft site, which is currently being corrected."

Microsoft have now deleted the page that said: "You can no longer redeem Bitcoin into your Microsoft account. Existing balances in your account will still be available for purchases from Microsoft Store, but can't be refunded."

So, Bitcoin devotees can stand down.

So, if you like using Bitcoin as it enables you to keep purchases confidential, you don't need to worry with regards to Microsoft's stance. The tech giant hasn't really offered any explanation regarding the initial post, so many people are pretty puzzled by all this, but at least for the time being, you can carry on as you were.
