Commercial Break: The mock razor ad that will make you want to self-harm
Looks as though someone at Gillette took a look at the roaring success of last year’s Old Spice ads across the pond and thought to himself ‘Yes, that’s JUST we need as part of our marketing drive – weird humour.’
He was probably right, but what he probably shouldn’t have done was get the 15-year-old work experience kid to come up with a concept and right the script for their new viral advert. Because that’s what appears to have happened here.
If you wanted to come up with a spoof ad for a razor, you could literally go wild with the possible features that the razor could have. We just came up with ten in a minute. Nine of them were complete shite but they were ALL better than this piss-poor excuse for entertainment.
It almost makes you feel like using a Gillette blade to slash your wrists, but maybe that’s what they WANT…
