Commercial Break: A jingle that's a true work of Mart

5 September 2012

This one has been around for a few months but we’ve only just discovered it, while rooting around on ESPN Classic for some vintage women’s beach volleyball action.

It’s an ad for Machine Mart and contains possibly the catchiest piece of music we’ve heard since, erm, let’s say My Boy Lollipop. A perfect marriage of Subterranean Homesick Blues and the closing theme from Only Fools And Horses, one its inside your head you won’t be able to shift it, and before long it’ll be stalking the corridors of your brain like Jack Nicholson in The Shining (except with better tools than he had).

If you want to see some pictures of old grannies in bikinis, I can sort you out. You can call them vintage women if you like, we all know it's granny porn.

You muppets. It's a blatant rip off of the middle of Sweet Gene Vincent by Ian Dury and the Blockheads.

You're wrong Martin, it's clearly a rip of I've been Everywhere by me, big deid Johnny Cash.
