Unicorn meat spoofers hit by pork authority’s legal ton of bricks
June 22nd, 2010 • 7 CommentsOn April Fool’s Day, the ThinkGeek website ran a fairly amusing spoof ad for unicorn meat that swiftly spread around the internet. So far, so not very unusual.
But it seems that the ThinkGeek pranksters have infuriated the good folk at the National Pork Board (oh yes, them) and a legal shot has been fired across the bows of ThinkGeek in the shape of a 12-page letter from the NPB’s law enforcers.
ThinkGeek were told:
“You have been marketing a product called “Radiant Farms Canned Unicorn Meat” using the slogan “Unicorn – the new white meat.” … National Pork Board is the owner of THE OTHER WHITE MEAT® in the United States and elsewhere around the world, and owns the following federal trademark registrations.”
And on and on and on for, as we said, twelve pages. Because of a spoof ad for fucking unicorn meat. Which probably tastes shit owing to all the glitter in it.
ThinkGeek think they’re okay though as the unicorn meat ad is immune from action as it’s a parody. And on we all move…
