We like to play games on the Bitterwallet side of the office. Bread frisbee, for example. But don’t get all technological on our ass – leave that for the fresh faced punks on the other side of the cheese plants. Those kids from sister site Dealspwn laugh at our analogue leanings, preferring to immerse themselves in a digital utopia, which we imagine to look a little like Tron.

Here’s Dealspwn’s Editor Emma to take you by the VR glove and walk you through the best gaming bargains of the week:

The Secret Of Monkey Island – £3.49 @ Steam (PC game) – This classic point-and-click adventure from Lucasarts has been lovingly revamped, and is selling for half price on Steam this weekend only! Fans of the Monkey Island series have been re-living their favourite Guybrush moments, involving grog, rubber chickens, voodoo ladies and pirates. ArrrrrRRRRR!

PS3 game delay soars eBay price to £135

Monday, October 20th, 2008

ps3 game 300x164 PS3 game delay soars eBay price to £135
Sony’s highly anticipated Playstation 3 game, titled ‘LittleBigPlanet‘, has just received a global slap on its release. Sony decided to delay the release date, going as far as to recalling the game from retailers who have already received shipments.

The reason for the delay? It’s a killer bug… it’s missing stuff…

Nope. According to Sony, it’s because some of the background music was deemed as unacceptable due to religion:

“During the review process prior to the release of LittleBigPlanet, it
has been brought to our attention that one of the background music
tracks licensed from a record label for use in the game contains two
expressions that can be found in the Qur’an.”

So while Sony is most likely spending millions recalling the discs already shipped to stores, re-editing soundtracks, re-programming it into the game, and re-printing millions of discs to ship out again to angry and upset fans weeks from now, a combination of the high anticipation for the game and a sudden decrease in supply has shot up demand for the game right now, skyrocketing the price of the game to over £135 in some instances. Plenty of eBay sellers have been taking advantage of the situation and raking it in.

The estimated date of release is currently November 14, but being a pretty crowded season, Sony looks like it’ll be in for some competition.

Until then, why not blow £135 on your ‘collector’s edition’?

HotUK Deals Of The Day – Friday 17th October

Friday, October 17th, 2008

hukd logob HotUK Deals Of The Day Friday 17th OctoberIt’s getting colder and the kids have got a half term holiday looming, so here’s some child-friendly deals to see you into the weekend. As ever, they’ve all been discovered by the eager bargain beavers over at HotUKDeals.

SING WHEN YOU’RE WINNING

nursery rhymes cd 300x300 HotUK Deals Of The Day Friday 17th OctoberFor the little ‘uns, there’s a collection of 101 Nursery Rhymes for singalong fun. Be warned – it doesn’t contain full versions but has a medley-style so that you’re never far away from a new tune. A livener for rainy days and long car journeys.

Some of these CDs can be guilty of being made by talent-free maniacs, but as it’s only £1.99, if the nursery rhymes suck, you could always cut the disc into the shape of a Chinese star and give it to a teenage wannabe ninja.

HUKD member jakenjo says “it doesn’t want to make you kill yourself, well not straight away.” High praise indeed.
