Sony to make streaming PS4 cheap to guarantee sales?February 20th, 2013 • 7 Comments
The rumours around the PS4 (or whatever Sony decide to call it) are really ramping up now, with the best news being that the console could be pretty cheap in a bid to maximise sales.
One report suggests that Sony are looking at flogging the PS4 for just shy of £300 when it launches. Compared to the £425 price-tag of the PS3 when it came out, that’s a big drop.
Another reports says that the price could be as low as 40,000 Yen, which in sterling, is around £275, which is frankly brilliant and a boon if Sony want to destroy the competition of the next-gen Microsoft Xbox.
There’s also strong rumours that the console will allow gamers to take their games to smartphones, tablets and PS Vita.
“Sony’s new console may also allow users to compete against others using different hardware, such as smartphones and other portable devices,” the report said.
This comes from Sony’s acquisition of cloud-gaming company Gaikai, which basically means that games would stream from the internet, with CNET saying: “Imagine playing a core PlayStation…[game] on your console, then picking the game up exactly where you left off on your cell phone or tablet.”
What this means for you wanting to play your PS3 games on the new console is anyone’s guess, but things are definitely heating up for Sony’s announcement later today.
“Imagine playing a core PlayStation…[game] on your console, then picking the game up exactly where you left off on your cell phone or tablet.”
Cant think of anything worse personally lol.
Fuck off Sony – N64 all the way
The selling prices are in Yen. So yes it might selling for 40,000 Yen, or £270. But that doesn’t mean we’ll get it for £270. Anyone with half a brain can work that out.
Still be cheaper than £425 the PS3 was mind. Probably about £320 – £350.
I’m waiting for the BW Death Watch on Sony……

So have you received details of how much the next xbox will cost?
Sony will do well with the PS4 if they get it out considerably sooner then the new Xbox, its the main reason why Xbox kicked Ps3`s arse last time .
