Sainsbury's to barge into mobile phone market

1 July 2013

the-brick--talking-mobile-phone-holderThe supermarkets are continuing to take over every aspect of our lives, and the latest development is that Sainsbury’s is easing its way into the mobile phone market, where Tesco and Asda are already nestling, waiting to take your monies.

The ‘Mobile by Sainbury’s’ network service is coming, although more details and prices are yet to be announced. What we do know however, is that it’ll be a collaboration with Vodafone, which may or may not put you right off the idea.

Mobile phonery will be the latest new venture for Sainbsury’s, having had a jolly good stab at eBooks, mp3 downloads and video-on-demand services over the past year.

What next for Sainsbury’s? Dog-walking? Fortune telling? Soft drugs? Who knows…

Great, another MVNO. It's good for consumer choice and I'm sure that Sainsbury will give their customers some sort of sign up / usage bonus. Good news all round.
