Got an Oyster card? Cheap day returns from London from £5
June 28th, 2010 • 5 CommentsHere’s a cracking deal that sprouted up on Hot UK Deals a week ago, but we’ve only just spotted as it as the deal went live this weekend – thanks to avid Hot UK Deals member ahenry for posting it:
If you have an Oyster card or a Freedom pass, between 26 June and 25 July, you can get cheap off-peak return tickets from London Mainline stations to different places for between £5 and £20. eg
- £5 return Brighton, Bognor Regis, Eastbourne, Littlehampton or Southend-on-Sea
- £5 return Arundel, Chichester, Dorking or Windsor
- £10 return Oxford or Cambridge
- £15 return Salisbury, Stratford-upon-Avon or Winchester
- £15 return Birmingham, Liverpool or Southampton
- £20 return Bournemouth, Bristol, Cardiff or Norwich
Each adult needs to have an Oyster card, or a Freedom pass and have a voucher that you print from the WWW site.
You can only get the return tickets from London, travelling out. You couldn’t use it to go from Brighton-London-Brighton.

I wish I’d known about this. Came down to Bognor yesterday and have paid £15 in coach fares!
I have 4 Oyster cards, each of them is snapped or cracked, will they do? They’re all in credit but due to the fact that I used fake names on each of them, none of them relate to me (although I suppose Micheal Mouse and Donald Duckington could be in luck), I won’t use them any more as I’m sick of them breaking.
Still it might be cheaper to book two returns say from Oxford to London to Oxford …that’s £20 return
