China take Apple fakery to the extreme with fake Apple Stores
July 20th, 2011 • 8 CommentsGood news, if you’re a resident of Kunming, the capital city of Yunnan Province in China. You now have not one Apple Store, but three! You’re welcome:
Except they’re all fake.
These photos from BirdAbroad’s blog show a very convincing layout with careful attention paid to staff uniforms and even the furniture, but ultimately she discovers that China’s long tradition of faking Apple products has now stretched to the stores themselves. The most bizarre aspect of the story is that according to BirdAbroad, all the staff believe they’re actually working for Apple.
Why go to all that trouble? Because consumers will pay through the nose for the Apple brand, and there are plenty of regions in the world where Apple doesn’t have a physical retail presence. Yesterday’s quarterly earnings call provides all the motivation a crook needs to invest in premises and lie to shoppers and staff; Apple revealed they’d smashed all market expectations by taking $27.18 billion in revenue in the three months to the end of June, with profits of $7.13 billion. Apple sold a massive 20.34 million iPhones, and 9.25 million iPads as well as 3.95 million Macs.

Hawo, I work for Shitty Phone company.
(Apologies to Tuong Lu Kim at Southpark)
Seeing as the US sells devices made in China, do these fake chinese stores flog shit devices made in America?
Regarding Dicks comment – he’s almost correct – Its shit products designed in america!
I think it works like this:
American designs shit products (Xbox360, iPod, iPhone), and then gets shitty Chinese companies to make them…
