CDiscount customer orders “will not be fulfilled” – what next?

cdiscount CDiscount customer orders will not be fulfilled   what next?It’s grim news for customers of CDiscount.co.uk. As we revealed yesterday, the online store has gone into administration with debts of €8.2 million. The company was launched as a separate concern to European parent company CDiscount SA, which owns 50 per cent of the Ireland-based business and is owed €4.6 million.

What does this mean for customers? Bitterwallet spoke to a member of staff at CDiscount.co.uk this morning, who confirmed the company was in administration, and that orders could not be accepted and nor could any existing credit be spent. Also, CDiscount confirmed that any orders made before the company went into administration last week cannot not be fulfilled for the time being, adding that the company hopes to learn more from the administrators in the next day.

It’s not all bad news. If you spent over £100 on a single item and paid by credit card, then Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 makes your credit card company as liable for your loss as the retailer. If this applies to you, then phone up your credit card company and tell them you wish to make a claim under the terms of the Act – they should send you a claim form. Remember – they are as liable to you as CDiscount.co.uk, so don’t be fobbed off; it has been known by companies to deny liability in the past.

    That’s great, this is really fuckin’ great, man. Now, what the fuck are we supposed to do? We’re in some pretty shit now, man.

    Ahem. So what about those of us that are owed money in vouchers from Cdiscount? Are we up shit creek without a paddle?

    Pity really, the 3Pay scheme that Cdiscount offered came in handy now and again.

    i was reported in Nov ’08 that that had gone into administration too

    their website works and the person i spoke to assured me they werent…………

    The liquidator has confirmed that he will seek to dispose of the business as a going concern and in this regard for the immediate future the business will continue to operate as normal.

    If you have placed an order with us and have not received your products or have returned an order and are waiting a refund then we have been advised that you approach your bank or credit card issuer in order to recover your money.

    We are sorry for any inconvenience caused but are committed to resolving all outstanding issues with our customers.

    Got the same message this afternoon from CDiscount. Already spoken to CC company, bill due to be paid tomorrow, told not to pay bill and they are sending out a claim form.

    I have an (albeit small) outstanding order with them for £15, which I paid for using my Alliance & Leicester VISA Debit card. Is there any way I can claim for this back or am I screwed?

    i had yet to recieve my order from the big 20% off day they had in mid october, now they have £200 quid of mine that i want back!!!

    ive spent all day trying to sort it out and heres whats happned so far;

    They have £150 of mine. I called Barclaycard, told them the situation and they said they would call me back. They did and left me a message saying they are sending me a form to complete and to keep copies of the order and any correspondence. So far so good.

    The paragraphs seem to contradict each other. “..continue to operate as normal” doesn’t match with “…approach your bank or credit card issuer in order to recover your money.”

    Am I being cynical in thinking that they’re just trying to take more money on the way down? ;-)

    Well, its a bit naughty them leaving their website up for orders while this is doing on. If they know they cannot and will not be able to deliver the orders than thats downright fraud.

    If you paid via a Visa Debit Card you are still covered by EU Visa law, just dont take any shit from your bank

    same as every body else orded sat nav on 5th paid for saturday delivery rang them up on Saturday afternoon when it didn’t arrive guy apologised and said it would be posted out on tuesday i rang today to confirm this and was told they had gone bust rang nat west said they would credit back my account thank god but how come they still have site up it stinks

    been fighting with cdiscount for one month over partial order not received. got a call from customer services yesterday re liquidation announcement. daft enough to pay with switch – advised to contact bank for a recharge – am I on a hiding to nothing with this? should I write off my £65 & put it down to experience? answers on a postcard please…

    Somebody with a credit card should put a small “test” order through their system and see if they take the money and send you a confirmation email … I would but I only have a debit card.

    And the Cdiscount website is still up! It’s not changed for days, but it’s still up.

    Tried e-mailing them the other day regarding the money in vouchers they owe me, but no reply.

    Does anyone know what’s actually going on?

    i went on to find out the company is registered in Ireland, but the CRO (irish companies house) say that the company have not filed for liquidation yet.

    the guy at customer services does not know what company is dealing with the liquidation. just contacted watchdog about this scam

    It implies that the Irish courts are dealing with this which would mean its an Irish company and those who purchased using a Maestro debit card should be protected for using an “overseas” company. But its best to check with the administrators to clarify.

    The liquidators are grant thornton but when i rang them yesterday they said noone had been alloctade the case so i couldn’t speak to anybody. I paid £1,371.00 on maestro 30th October. My bank weren’t interested

    This sucks!!!
    I had £200 credit with them which i bought a dvd player with in august then returned it – so now it will just go down the drain!!!

    is there any chance they’ll pop back and ill be able to use my credit note or not???

    administrators are grant thornton 02078652662 – chris wilson – he can add you to the debtors list and send out necessary forms … would appear to be conducted from g t dublin office but no further information as yet … i’m owed loads too !!!

    i was one of their suppliers and they owe us £15k. Wrongful trading for a long time?!?! Havent been able to contact their accounts department for 4 months. run by cowboys. theyre meant to be part of casino group so you would have thought you would get your money but no. the directors have known they have been going under for a long time by the looks of it yet they were still willing to sell to you. very dodgy. built on lies.

    Oh no not again. History repeats itself. Ciaran O’Donoghue ran Dundalk firm iQon and guess who was the administrator then? Michael McAteer, who was not with Grant Thornton but a partner with accountants Foster McAtee. Ciaran’s brother Nial is another director and Ciaran himself said he had between 500 and 1000 staff, what a liar!

    Just was aout to buy a tv from their up and running website untill I noticed a in provisional administration thing under their logo THNK GOD I looked I then googled and found this site
    They should be shut down if ther are not going to fullfill any orders

    I purchased a Grundig Surround sound & DVD player for what I thought was a bargain price in October, It stopped working after thre weeks but When I rang Cdiscount they informed me that they had gone into administration and could not help. I was told to contact Grundig who were no help whatsoever despite the fact that the were the manufacturers and it was just thre weeks old. My credit card issuer won’t help as the goods were under £100. Surely Grundig have some sort of obligation in circumstances like this? All help gratefully received

I, as many of you, are pissed off with the fact CDiscount are still taking orders…especially as I ordered ON the 6th November (the day that they appear to have gone into administration) My purchase was under 100 so I don’t expect to see sh*t back?! Those money-grabbing BAST**DS who are responsible for ripping us off should be dragged out into the street and f**cking shot…OR…I would settle for a refund!

    How is it possible that they’re still taking orders online? Surely the administrators would have put up a message saying it was now a fecked company and there is never a chance that anything you order will arrive.

    We took legal against them for £700+ although we got judgement of course they virtually said fuck off.

  40. Only noticed the in administration bit just before putting debit card details in – thank the lord – the customer service number is a fax machine – looks like a fraud to me. Why is noone give a crap about closing the site down are the administrators fraudsters too I wonder? Or as firefox says has someone hyjacked the website to get card details?

    Either way DONT place any orders with this site
