Burger King have become very jumpy at the notion of horse DNA getting into their meats. Especially when ‘horse DNA’ is probably definitely spunk. Either way, BK doesn’t want anything to do with all this, so has stopping getting their meat from the Irish supplier who found themselves at the eye of a Tesco storm.
The bad news is that there could be a shortage of some of their products while they find someone else to take on such a lucrative contract. Meanwhile, work has all but stopped at the Silvercrest plant in Ireland while they run tests to see how horse got in with the beef.
Burger King said in a statement: “Food quality and safety are a top priority for Burger King restaurants globally. We have stringent and overlapping controls to ensure that the products we sell to our customers meet our strict quality standards. Silvercrest, a subsidiary of ABP Food Group, has been under investigation for potential contamination of some retail products. This company also supplied 100 per cent pure beef patties for our restaurants in the UK and Ireland.”
“While this is not a food safety issue according to findings from the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI), upon learning of these allegations, we immediately launched an independent investigation that is currently ongoing. As a precaution, this past weekend we decided to replace all Silvercrest products in the UK and Ireland with products from another approved Burger King supplier. This is a voluntary and precautionary measure… unfortunately, this may mean that some of our products are temporarily unavailable.”
Over in Japan though, they couldn’t give a monkeys, with one restaurant showing off a menu that features dirt as one of their key ingredients. Ne Quittez Pas, in Tokyo, brags about their $110 menu consisting of dirt-related meals. So, for your money, you can buy a salad with a dirt dressing, potato starch and dirt soup and dirt ice cream.
It is unlikely people will weep over horse jizz if you’re willing to buy ice cream made from muck.

Btw nothing wrong with horsemeat as a named ingredient, cooked properly & not from an ex racehorse having had a load of anti inflammatories to keep it running …now that shit is fucked up if it enters the foodchain.

Badger meat is the way to go
Why people are squeamish about eating horse meat I don’t know. Us english have no problem eating pig which is a fair more intelligent animal, or rabbit which is a far cuter animal. Also not eating horse means that 100,000 plus horse are ship across Europe to be slaughter each year, probably in less humane conditions than in the UK.
